Know Your Tattoo Artist

Tattoo Artist Sued Over Penis Tattoo Prank

January 23, 2007 10:03 a.m. EST

Komfie Manalo - All Headline News Correspondent

Buenos Aires, Argentina (AHN) - A tattoo artist from Argentina is facing a lawsuit after drawing a penis on the back of an Argentinean football fan instead of his favorite team's official logo.

Reports said the teenager approached the tattoo artist and asked him to tattoo the logo of the Boca Junior football team on his back.

However, the tattooist was an avid supporter of the rival team and decided to play a prank on his young customer.

After reaching home, the victim proudly showed his parents his new tattoo and was surprised to learn that a penis was tattooed on his back.

According to Argentina's Terra newspaper, the victim said, "I could not see what he was tattooing because he didn't have a mirror. I only saw it when I got home and showed it to my parents."

A police spokesperson added, "The tattooist supports Boca Junior's rival, River Plate, so he got annoyed when the teenager asked him to tattoo Boca's symbol and decided to tattoo a penis instead. Unbelievable!"

mini me

We have one of these in our office. I'm not sure which is more annoying, the chimp or billy bass.

So Last night I witnessed a rock and roll legend rip NYC a new asshole and plant his flag in Herald Square! Forget that I was the youngest guy there (at age 37) and that I was substantially under leathered (in both clothes and skin)...The Sliver Bullet Band, lead by Bob Seger, of my hometown, put on a fun show at MSG last night

You can read the whole story here, but you pretty much get the idea already.

SOTU

Curious what everybody thought about the SOTU last night..

Old Chimpy got up there and kissed Pelosi's butt, and then launched into his speech.

All in all, it was not as bad as previous years, but the bar has been set so low...

Major themes:

- 20% reduction in oil usage

OK, on the surface, I am for this...but he never specifically mentions CAFE standards, or LEGISLATION to mandate major improvements..he sites more Ethanol (Tom Harken and Iowa) which If I am not mistaken may help our Oil consumption, but if the goal is lowering greenhouse gases, I think it is a neutral proposition as it takes a lot of energy to make ethanol...surprised he didn't try to go to the ANWR platform again

So I call this one HOT AIR - nothing substantial will happen.

- Health Care reform - HA! he doesn't propose anything to address the problem of run away costs, only a (Drum roll please) plan to create a tax program that allows people to buy insurance...sounds so-so on the surface (even supporters have to be skeptical of anything this guy says), what this basically means is that small businesses will no longer offer health care, and the burden will be shifted to individuals...might work ok in the short term, but in the end, the costs will continue to rise, and these "affordable" plans will become overpriced like they were before, and the business lobby will have succeeded in shifting a cost back onto the employees. Oh, and he went to the HSA route...there is the solution for the working poor...save more money in tax sheltered HSA's - ummm...these people live pay check to pay check..putting away money in a rainy day health care account at the expense of gas to get to work, and heat for the house in the winter or clothes for the kids...come on! Lip service...never will happen, but at least he recognizes this is a problem [roll eyes]

War on Terra - same old bull shit --

Iraq - come on!! one more chance...I love you baby, I promise I won't hit you again..I am a changed man...no more drinkin', I won't get angry...WHAT! you can't find the remote...WHAP!

I am sure there was more, but Ellen had to leave the room because I started yelling at the TV :) - at least I didn't film myself doing it

Kevin Garnett no Royce Gracie

Kevin Garnett, you're seven feet tall and built like a racehorse. So why do you fight like my sister?

Bush on our Country's Sacrifices

From the News Hour last night:
LEHRER: Let me ask you a bottom-line question, Mr. President. If it is as important as you've just said -- and you've said it many times -- as all of this is, particularly the struggle in Iraq, if it's that important to all of us and to the future of our country, if not the world, why have you not, as president of the United States, asked more Americans and more American interests to sacrifice something?....

PRESIDENT BUSH: Well, you know, I think a lot of people are in this fight. I mean, they sacrifice peace of mind when they see the terrible images of violence on TV every night. I mean, we've got a fantastic economy here in the United States, but yet, when you think about the psychology of the country, it is somewhat down because of this war.

Everyone needs to do their part, so last night I watched the news on TV while eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's. I'm sure my sacrifice is of great comfort to a soldier trying to dig a foxhole in a sand dune right now. Glad I could help!

Update: Here's another quote from the same interview:
BUSH: Success also means making sure al-Qaida doesn’t get a foothold in Iraq, which they’re trying to do in Anbar province…. [T]he final option is secure the capital and at the same time chase al-Qaida into Anbar. And what’s different is that there would be more troops this time and better rules of engagement so that the Iraqi troops and our troops, working side by side, will be able to go after the enemy.

As Digby and other bloggers point out -- Bush is planning on keeping al-Qaeda from getting a foothold in Anbar by driving them into Anbar. Hmm...

Conan's take on the iPhone

:)

Specter! no...not the 007 Specter, but similar

Turns out the mystery senator who inserted the provision into the Patriot Act that allows the circumvention of USDA's being confirmed by the Senate is none other then PA's own Arlen "what did I get in Return for this" Specter....

hmmm...so at the last minute in conference, he is instructed by the DOJ (Al Gonzo) to insert this clause...

Question is...what did the Chimpy in Chief promise in return?

This is Our Country!

From the West Coast, to the east coast!

Bush Co is firing attorneys without cause...some of them are investigating Republicans for corruption...using a loophole in the Patriot Act that allows him to appoint loyal Republicans who won't investigate him...This is our Country!

Shuffle Redux

Earlier I sang the praises of my iPod Shuffle, and I am still in love with this little clip music player...there is one problem with the Shuffle and playing it on shuffle...

PINK FLOYD's The Wall

There are very few albums out there that I feel cannot be listened to almo0st in their entirety, or at least in large blocks of songs..

My shuffle was shuffling on by as I walked around tow non Monday..when it happened...

Run Like Hell came on, and I got all pumped for the final run to the end of the album...that stretch that goes...

Run Like Hell > Waiting for the Worms > Stop > The Trial > Outside The Wall

Only they tease you with it at the end of Run Like Hell, and then my shuffle jumped to a Van Morrison song...I have no idea what song...I was so crestfallen...

I wonder if I can set up a rule in my update that prohibits Floyd :)
Josh at TPM has a good post up (via Atrios) on big W's "popularity" right now..

"The Iraq War is one of the few things that rivals his unpopularity. And the public, after signaling deep opposition to the war at the polls, sees this extremely unpopular president come before them to announce that he's expanding the really unpopular war. And if that's not enough he has the quavering look of a degenerate gambler begging his wife, half cockily half desperately, for one more chance.

Shocking that it didn't come off well."

Somebody please shoot me

It's not so bad to spend time yelling at George Bush on the television. But if I ever record my rants and post them on YouTube.. shoot me please.

Saving my hard earned cash for this one

I happened to see this last night while watching a Tivo'd version of The Daily Show.

I was immediately engorged.

I'll start looking for a babysitter now.

NBA MVP

If you were out of the country for the past several years, and when you returned someone told you that this was a picture of the reigning NBA MVP, how much money would you put on them being wrong?

Missing boy found -- and then some

Crazy story in Missouri today. A 13-year-old boy disappeared somewhere between the schoolbus door and the front door of his home. A friend who got off the bus at the same time reported seeing a white pickup truck drive by a few minutes later. Four days later, cops in Kirkwood noticed a truck matching that description; they searched the home of the registered owner, Michael Devlin, and found not only the 13-year-old (shaken but OK), but also a 15-year-old boy named Shawn Hornbeck who had been missing for four years!

Full story here

Here's a bizarre twist that's not in the article. Shawn's parents have worked tirelessly for four years, first looking for him, then aiding other families with missing children. They have a guestbook on their website, shawnhornbeck.com. On December 1 of 2005, these two entries were posted amidst the posts by sympathetic well-wishers. Shawn was found at the home of Michael Devlin in Kirkwood:

Dangers of wild mushroom cultivation

Grandmother who ate wild mushrooms dies

Anyone who reads this, please promise me -- if your family goes out mushroom-picking, please make sure to film everyone sitting around the dinner table later. You know your local news show would love to have footage of the doomed family munching on fungi saying "Mmmmm.... Wow, this stuff's really good!"

On the boats and Private Planes....they're coming to America!

Yup...Brand Beckham are packing up the piso in Madrid and moving to Beverly...Hills that is....

Posh can continue her fashion and music pursuits, Becks can swing in crosses from the right wing...and in an unprecedented move for Soccer, or perhaps Sports...

Beckham will receive 50% of ALL T-shirt sales royalties and a share of the gate receipts as well.

The whole deal has been rumored to be near $250mm for 5 years...

now there are a lot of "ifs" involved in that $250mm...many of them related to sponsorships etc...but most accounts have the galaxy's portion of this at $10mm a year...again probably some fuzzy math in there.

I for one am excited he is joining MLS...I will definitely go watch when he comes to NYC

Bush calls General Petraeus in to discuss Iraq strategy

The sound of Bernie Bickerstaff shitting himself

From an ESPN chat:

Jay (Memphis, TN): Do you still get in as much Halo as you did in college? Or has the NBA schedule cut into video gaming time?

SportsNation Adam Morrison: I think I do as much if not more as I did in college. My game has improved since I've been in the NBA as far as Halo is concerned. My favorite map has to be Ascension.

(A fact which should console Bernie after Morrison's next 2-13 shooting night.)

Whipple wasn't the same after this

Baseball Blogs

I added a Good Sites section to this page, and put in a couple of links to some good sports blogs -- Boston Sports Media Watch and Baseball Musings. BSMW is a great aggregator of all the print, online, and brodcast coverage in and around New England of the major Boston sports teams. It also offers some good analysis of how different outlets are choosing to cover the same story with different angles -- good stuff if, like me, you are interested in the process of media. BSMW also hates Dan Shaughnessy with a passion, which automatically ups its credibility. Baseball Musings is also a nice aggregator of all things MLB-related; in their original content, they tend to place an emphasis on the sabermetric stuff.

If anyone has any other favoritte blogs, let me know, and i can add them to our roll.

doing the shuffle

I have had a iPod Shuffle for about a month now

At first I set up a specific folder for it to synch with so that I could control what was being played...

I now realize that I am missing out on the beauty of "shuffle"...Just let it pick 250 songs at random

this morning on the ride to work, I listened to

The Dead Kennedys "Religions Vomit"

into

David Grisham and Jerry Garcia - Shady Grove

Finishing with

Prince's When Doves Cry

There are much more bizarre corners of my music collection that will surface in the coming days

G'night

Just had a tasty dinner at Lombardis in Little Italy...so damn good

Then went and had a couple glasses of wine at my cousins restaurant The Tasting Room

Ready for Bed...

Final thought for the night.........

A Christmas Tree or a Bush?

This was created to be a 'diverse' blog, so in that spirit, I pass along something that appeared in my inbox. Really warms the spirits, doesn't it?

IN PRAISE OF A CHRISTMAS BUSH

by Greg Asimakoupoulos

The White House boasts a Christmas tree.
And near it there's a Bush
whose roots reach deep because his job
is anything but cush'.

He knows the stress of being shaped
by those with pruning shears.
He feels the frigid pelting sleet
of soldier families' tears.

And still this Bush grows strong and tall
displaying shoots of life.
He's nourished by his humble faith
and his committed wife.

While lights adorn the Douglas Fir,
this Christmas Bush is graced
by candor and integrity
that beautify like lace.

O God, please tend this fragile Bush
with all you know he needs.
May we find shelter in his shade
as prayerfully he leads.

The Democrats now control congress

Look at all of the progress they have made :)

South Lake Tahoe Casino

There's a new resort/casino in SLT -- the Montbleu. Seems like a nice place to burn some money and get a good meal. Between here, Harvey's and Harrah's, any need to brave the roads, weather and cops to make it to Reno?

I'll take Pats and give you 7

This should help us all win big money on the superbowl (from the techcruch forum.):

Pickheads (www.pickheads.com) is a free, online service that blends fantasy sports with social networking and enables users to synthesize, share and collaborate on views on professional sports matchups. By collecting and aggregating predictions from a community of users, Pickheads effectively distills the collective wisdom of informed sports fans down to a small set of numbers. Pickheads was built on the premise that groups of informed people are collectively smarter ? and better at predicting future outcomes ? than the so-called "experts".

startup fever

Here's something else from techcrunch: http://forums.techcrunch.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=11

It's a forum where they invite startups to introduce themselves to the world. I guess techcrunch writes about the most interesting ones, but this is the unfiltered list. Haven't look too closely, but could be interesting. Plus, down the line you can match the introductions with their listing on http://www.fuckcompany.com. That way you can calculate the startup MTBF (mean time between failure, for you less geeky bastards).

DRM/Apple

Interesting article about the state of the Music industry and Apple. This all smack dab in the middle of the Apple love fest going on at the Moscone center in SF.

The Inevitable Death of DRM

Poses some interesting thoughts about Apple's dominance of this market and what that means for competition.

one of the most frustrating things about an iPod is the closed architecture of the device...if someone comes along with a better mousetrap, I am stuck, because I have invested in Apple's solution, which wont allow me to port my music over.

Also....I totally want the new iPhone ;)

thunk, thunk, thunk: is this thing on?

While watching the game I had what I think is a brilliant idea: Why not have a college football playoff, instead of the current silly bowl system? That's right, you heard it here first.

Welcome

As I watched the BCS football game the other night, my cousin Carl and I thought it might be fun to try out a group blogging project. We invited some friends of ours to chime in and test it out.

The idea is not so much that we would have a running discussion (although that will surely happen in some cases), but that we would have a vibrant and diverse blog that would be updated regularly due to the number of authors and opinions present.

So here goes nothing (literally) :)
